| Over the years some programs and packages materialized -
perhaps they might be useful for others:
Network Interface Monitor: nifmon is a curses utility for FreeBSD which displays the state of a network interface together with a modified tcpdump output on a console and updates it in realtime (updated 01/2006 for FreeBSD 6.x and 7.x plus some enhancements)
this is my collection of software probe routines for MRTG. They are made for FreeBSD and usually run under FreeBSD-STABLE. For more info on MRTG have a look here.
cwish 3.67 (09/2003)
cwish (= curses windowing shell) is an easy to use curses (=character) based tool for traveling fullscreen on a terminal or in an xterm through the filesystem, either for doing administrative work or as a shell replacement. Some would call it a file manager.
MicroEmacs 3.12.l (09/2003)
this is my own for many years locally maintained, enhanced and debugged copy of the MicroEmacs 3.12 editor.
used to get the current time in seconds since the (Unix-) epoch and the diff between the current and a previous invocation of etime. Useful in some sort of shell scripts.
very simple program to get some data from the GL518 motherboard voltage and fan monitor chip. Uses FreeBSD's smb interface.
MicroLAN (1-wire) temperature monitor daemon. Used to monitor several temperature sensors and execute a script on overtemp condition. Uses the FreeBSD mlan3 library in the comms section of the ports.
Serial Presence Detect. This program (based on previous work of Takanori Watanabe) reads data out of the EEprom of SDRAM chips and displays the information found. The Serial Presence Detect Data is a Jedec standard and used to describe the working parameters of a SDRAM chip which enables autoconfiguration by i.e. the PC BIOS. Uses FreeBSD's smb interface.
Set Networking Parameters. setnetparm is a highly configurable utility used to setup several networking and networking related parameters of a FreeBSD based computer at boot time. Its primary use is to easily (re-) configure networking parameters for FreeBSD-based laptops or notebooks which are to be used in several different networking environments.
is a complete DSS1 ISDN (= Euro-ISDN) implementation for FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD and BSD/OS. Since 1999 it is an integral part of the base FreeBSD operating system. Has also been added to the base NetBSD operating system.
is a complete DEC VT220 terminal emulator console driver. Since 1995 it is an integral part of the base FreeBSD operating system. Also is or has been part of the NetBSD and OpenBSD base operating system(s).
